Thanos Tsavouselis (b. 1998, Euboea, Greece) is a composer and multimedia artist whose work explores the intersection of sound, technology, and human perception. His artistic practice spans electroacoustic music composition, multimedia installations, and interactive sound systems, often examining the tension between performer and machine. Through his work, investigates questions of control, autonomy, and the role of the human within algorithmic and audiovisual environments.
Growing up in Euboea, he began teaching himself electric guitar at the age of seven, developing an early fascination with sound and texture. At fifteen, he started formal studies in electric guitar and music theory, later expanding his creative interests to include photography and classical violin. His first experiments in electronic music began at eighteen, followed by explorations in beatmaking and live sound processing around the age of twenty. Two years later, he started composing progressive metal and rock works that merged compositional complexity with performative energy, shaping his later transition toward electroacoustic and multimedia composition.
In 2021, Tsavouselis began formal studies in electric guitar and harmony at the Euboean Conservatory “Sianou,” receiving the LCM/RGT Electric Guitar Grade 3 and Grade 4 with distinction in 2022 and 2023 respectively. In the same year, he entered the Department of Music Studies at the Ionian University, where he currently studies Electroacoustic Music Composition.
Since 2024, Tsavouselis has been a member of the Hellenic Electroacoustic Music Composers Association (HELMCA) and performs regularly with the ASABE live electronic music ensemble. His works have been presented at numerous events and festivals in Greece, including the Electroacoustic Days, AKOUSMATA, and the Sonic Arts Summer Academy, and collaborations with artists such as Giannis Anastasakis, Dimitris Savvas, and Nefeli Stamogiannopoulou. Beyond composition, he has been actively involved in the setup and sound diffusion of multichannel systems and sound installations for festivals such as the Sonic Arts Summer Academy (2023–2025), AKOUSMATA (2024–2025), and the Electroacoustic Music Days (2024–2025). He has also been a core member of Lobivia, an experimental doom/stoner band, contributing as composer and performer (electric guitar, piano, and live electronics) in a 30-minute track presented at the 12th Social Solidarity Festival in Corfu (2024).
His recent projects are Lands (2025), an eight-channel electroacoustic composition exploring the environment as a living system; Stages (2024), a miniature electroacoustic tape piece depicting the psychological progression through a difficult mental state.
His discography includes Deltawave/Aether, Waveform, Lessons About Love, and the multi-part Sounds from Erebus series — a passage through popular music genres that reflects his ongoing dialogue between experimental and accessible sound worlds.
Combining live performance, interactivity, and compositional design, Tsavouselis’ work aims to blur the boundaries between disciplines — positioning the listener, the performer, and the system within a shared, constantly shifting field of perception.
